What is Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD)?
The Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption (MTPD), also called MTD, is the longest a critical process can be unavailable before the resulting damage threatens the organisation's survival.
MTPD is the hard ceiling. Every RTO must sit comfortably below it. In Resilira the MTPD is the first time horizon at which worst-case impact becomes severe (a score of 4 or 5) on the BIA matrix.
MTPD is sometimes written MTD (Maximum Tolerable Downtime); the two terms are interchangeable.
Put the theory to work.
Resilira turns these concepts into a running program — BIA, plans and compliance, audit-ready in days.
